Steve Ballmer might be leaving Microsoft, but he isn't checking out early.
In a Microsoft meeting with financial analysts Thursday, CEO Ballmer talked about porting products to non-Windows platforms, sparking speculation that MS Office could be made for iPad and Android tablets.
Microsoft is "working on everything that you think we should be working on," Ballmer said, according to PC World.
Ballmer, who in August said he would step down within a year from the tech giant, talked about "upside opportunities" for the companies, and said, "We don't have our heads in the sand."
Ballmer also took the opportunity to take a shot at Google, suggesting (as he has in the past) that the FTC take a closer look at its biggest rival.
"I do believe that Google's practices are worthy of discussion with competition authority, and we have certainly discussed them with competition authorities," Ballmer said, according to The Verge. "I don't think their practices are getting less meritorious of discussion."
Microsoft, based in Redmond, Wash., has about 2,800 employees in the Bay Area.
