I just got through reading a question about a 15 year old that is asking y no 1 wants to adopt her. Well this question made me sad, but at the same time I realize that all this time and I am not the only one that has felt this way. I am 23 and I still wish I could get adopted well not legally coz it?s too late, but become part of someones family. Coz even tho I have one of my own now sometimes I wish I had that mom to fight with or just be able to visit her etc?.
My question is how many of you foster kids feel this way? and how many parents will consider becoming part of a tanagers life?
I have thought of adopting a senor, but really what I want is someone to be there for me. Someone to help me with my kids. A sister or a brother.
About adopting an older kid and knowing when they are ready. well thats hard coz like me I wasn?t ready everythime I sat down to dinner with my foster family I got sad and locked myself in my room, and one day finally It came to me I made my choice and I don?t wanna be part of my drug addicted parents now I?m older and lost my chance to try to be part of my foster family. But I still have hope that I will meet a family that will see all the good things about me and will acept me as part of them.

This really breaks my heart. I?m not much older than you. I?m not a foster kid but I do plan on adopting in the next 3-4 years and will be adopting older children. I think a lot about the older kids in foster care. I?d very much like to be one of those homes where I have a fair number of kids legally but am also the place were people who don?t have that family life can come to. I?m not sure if that quite makes sense but hopefully it does.

From reading on here a while I think you can still actually be adopted even once you are over the age of 18. Hopefully someone else will come through and tell you about that. Its not the same process but from what I gather if you have someone who is a parent figure they can legally adopt you.

Have you ever thought about ?adopting? a senior? One of my friends and I have been discussing this. Her mom has adopted a senior. Basically she is just a pen pal (sends letters, holiday gifts, etc) with him but there are other set ups. There are many older individuals who don?t have families anymore and are very much in need of someone. Its not a legal relationship of course but more of just a mutual friendship. Maybe volunteer at a retirement home. There are so many lonely seniors who would benefit from someone just being there to visit, etc. I plan on starting a search this week to find a place I can start visiting. Just thought I?d through the idea out there
